Adoption in Enfield
What does adoption mean?
Adoption provides permanent families for children who can no longer live with their parents or any member of their birth family. When the courts make an Adoption Order, as the adoptive parent you’ll be recognised as the child’s legal and only parent, with the same rights and responsibilities as all other parents. We view adoption as a stable commitment that provides children with the support of a loving home throughout their lives.
Who needs adopting?
Children of every age and background need families. Since few babies are given up for adoption by their birth parents, concern about parenting is the primary reason that children need new families. Sadly, some children will have experienced neglect or abuse during their early lives. They may have been in foster care for a long time and feel very uncertain about their future. These early experiences can affect their development in complex and challenging ways.
Some of our children may also have special needs like health problems, physical disabilities or learning difficulties. Like all children, those in need of adoption want loving and caring families, together with understanding, patience and commitment. There will also be times when we need to find a home with room for more than one child so that siblings can remain together. In all cases, children will need to learn how to trust a new family and this will take everyone a little time.
